Community Rules
These rules and regulations (“Community Rules”) are part of the Membership Agreement between you and CoLab. If you have any questions about these Community Rules, please contact management: info@colabroanoke.com.
- Repeated violations of the Community Rules will result in the termination of membership.
- The term “Member” includes employees, contractors, invitees, or guests of the individual or entity listed in the Membership Agreement.
- Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests at all times while at the CoLab. Actions of their guests are considered actions of the member.
- Guests of members are granted access to CoLab spaces solely during active reservations and are kindly reminded not to loiter or utilize areas reserved for members; exceptions may be considered upon request.
- A major benefit of CoLab membership is access to your fellow members. We absolutely encourage CoLab members to make connections, collaborate on projects, share ideas, provide advice, and generally make great stuff happen. However, members may NOT spend a large part of their time at the Premises directly soliciting other members. CoLab is fundamentally a place to work, not a place to sell.
- Every person using CoLab Benefits must be a paid member. Exceptions are limited to:
- Day Pass holders
- Non-members who may use CoLab Benefits when they are meeting CoLab members at the Premises for business related meetings
- Non-member attendees of reservations and special events at the Premises.
- Members must immediately notify CoLab of any additional usage of the Benefits beyond that which is designated in their current Membership Agreement.
- CoLab reserves the right to refuse access to any person, including Members, that CoLab in good faith judges to be a threat to the safety of others, to the reputation of the community, or to the Premises.
- Multi-level marketing and retail sales to the public are not allowed.
- Illegal drug use, unruly behavior, vulgar language, physical violence, threatening behavior, or threatening speech will result in immediate termination.
- Digital and physical keys can be obtained only from CoLab and are NOT transferable. Members are not authorized to copy or to give or “loan” their key or password access to anyone else for any reason. CoLab may require deposits for such keys.
- Members must keep the kitchen clean at all times while using it. Dirty dishes must be washed and dried or placed in the dishwasher.
- All food and beverages in the refrigerator must be labeled and dated. CoLab reserves the right to discard anything left in the refrigerator that is unlabeled, unclaimed, dirty, or spoiled.
- When the last K-cup of coffee is used, notify management so that they may be resupplied.
- Discrimination toward, and harassment of others is strictly prohibited. CoLab has a zero-tolerance policy for any remarks or behavior that fails to respect the dignity and feelings of any individual. We recommend that all CoLab members receive training on workplace discrimination and harassment.
- Workspace must be kept clean and orderly, and all trash, packaging, and boxes must be removed from workspaces frequently.
- To schedule an event at CoLab, please contact CoLab staff to discuss scheduling, guest policy, insurance requirements, and fees if applicable.
- CoLab is open 24/7 for members. Members are expected to be mindful of security and the safety of others at all times. Exterior doors remain locked for the safety of our members. Users of CoLab agree to keep the doors locked, only allowing known guests into the building. Disregarding this rule could lead to loss or damage of property or injury to other members. The door schedule is set by CoLab staff and is subject to change.
- Members with a designated desk or office may display their company name on a single, removable sign so long as it does not cause any damage. The display of signs, flyers, and posters is restricted to personal areas and bulletin boards, unless preapproved by the CoLab.
- Members may use the CoLab address as their business address. They may not use the name of CoLab, its phone number or email address, or any picture of the Building in connection with, or in promoting or advertising their business without the prior written consent of CoLab.
- In the unlikely event that CoLab waives any Community Rule for one member, such waiver shall not constitute a waiver of any rule or regulation for any other member.
- Signs or other things may not be placed where they may, in CoLab’s judgment, appear unsightly, inappropriate, or divisive to other members or to the community.
- The Premises must be used in a neat and tidy fashion so as not to increase the need for additional janitorial labor or services, and all trash must be discarded in an appropriate receptacle.
- Cooking is prohibited, except for the use of the coffee maker and microwave.
- Sleeping is prohibited.
- Tobacco use, smoking, vaping, and the display of smoking devices inside the Premises is prohibited.
- No candles, open flames, flammable, or combustible liquids are allowed inside the Premises.
- Upon the termination of membership, all keys must be promptly returned.
- The heating and air conditioning system is controlled by management, and members are not allowed to make adjustments.
- Members may not change locks or install additional locks on any doors.
- Members may not cause any damage to the Premises or the furniture and fixtures therein, or to the property of others.
- Members must not make or permit any noise, odor, or activity that may interfere with the peaceful enjoyment of the Premises by others.
- Animals (other than service animals) are not allowed inside CoLab.
- Members must comply with all safety, fire protection, and evacuation regulations established by CoLab, the owner of the Building, and any government agency.
